Product Overview

Functional additives are the hidden workhorses of a well-formulated coating, adhesive, or construction product. Even at low addition rates (0.1–3%), the right additive dramatically improves substrate wetting, foam control, pigment dispersion, film coalescence, crosslink density, and rheology control. JCT offers a curated range of additives specifically selected for compatibility with our emulsion resin portfolio and common third-party binders.

Formulation Guidance

Defoamer Selection

JCT-DF200 is recommended for in-can foam generated during manufacturing and filling. JCT-DF210 (mineral oil-free) is preferred when transparency or low pigment flocculation risk is critical, such as in clear coatings or light-coloured topcoats.

Wetting Agent Pairing

JCT-WD100 (anionic) pairs well with JCT acrylic emulsions and standard titanium dioxide slurries. For hydrophobic pigments (carbon black, organic pigments) or coatings on oily metal substrates, combine with JCT-WD110 at a 1:1 ratio for optimum wetting and adhesion.

Crosslinker Addition

Add JCT-CL300 as the final component, under slow stirring. Avoid prolonged mixing at elevated temperatures. Pot life after crosslinker addition is typically 6–24 hours depending on resin type and pH.

Rheology Modifier Selection

JCT-RT100 (HASE) delivers high KU viscosity build with shear-thinning flow, ideal for interior and exterior emulsion paints. JCT-RT200 (HEUR associative) is recommended for gloss and semi-gloss systems where levelling and film appearance are critical. JCT-RT300 (HEC powder) provides structured, sag-resistant rheology for cement-based tile adhesives and high-build textured coatings.
